Abstract:
This layer shows officialy established Research Natural Areas (RNAs) and Special Interest Areas managed by the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. It also includes areas the Forest Service has proposed as RNAs. The boundaries were digitized from 1:24,000 scale USGS quadrangles.

These data are from the GIS collection of the Montana State Digital Library Archive. The data were removed from the State Library's Natural Resource Information System (NRIS) web site when it was replaced by more accurate data from the Montana Natural Heritage Program's stewardship database.
